George was convicted of housebreaking at York Assizes on March 15th, 1824, and sentenced to 14 years transportation to New South Wales. He arrived via the ship Guildford on 22 August 1823.[2][3]
He married Harriet Vidler on 23 Sep 1839 in Wollongong, New South Wales Australia[4] and they were the parents of Phoenix Wells, Rebecca (Wells) Smith and Edward Wells.
George died, aged 45 years, on 27 August 1849 the Sydney Benevolent Asylum, Parramatta. New South Wales. Australia[5] and was buried on 29 Aug 1849, at Camperdown, New South Wales. Australia.
