Mary Wentworth was born about 1730 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts Bay Colony, daughter of John Wentworth (1703–1773) and Sarah Hall (~1711–1790).
Mary married Samuel Appleton (born on August 15, 1726 in Boston; son of Samuel Appleton IV and Ann (Gerrish) Gee). Their children were:
- Anne Appleton (1760–1796)
- Samuel Appleton (1762– )
- Rebecca b. 30 June 1765, m. Henry Barlow Brown
She married secondly John Clapham, a merchant of Boston, on 26 March 1770.
Mary died in 1811 in Boston, Massachusetts, United States, aged about 80.
