Wentworth Rites Held Saturday John Howard Wentworth, 92, of Detroit, died Wednesday, Oct. 22, at the Martin Place Hospital, East, in Madison Heights, after a long illness. He was born July 30, 1888, in Thornville, Lapeer county, the son of Julius and Estelle (Eoff) Wentworth. Wentworth married Lena Collins Oct. 21, 1908, in Deford. Following their marriage, they made their home in Novesta township, moved into Cass City in 1930, and later settled in Berkley. Mrs. Wentworth died April 29, 1969. He was one of the founders of the Cass City Church of The Nazarene of Cass City. Wentworth is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Hutchinson of Oscoda and Mrs. Irma Emery and Mrs. Velma Horton, both of East Tawas; one son, Wilfred Wentworth of Detroit; one sister, Mrs. William Patch of Cass City; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Two brothers, Ben and Clayton preceded him in death. A sister, Amy Jane Palmateer, also died Oct. 22. Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning from Little's Funeral Home, Cass City, with Rev. Arthur Long, pastor of the Rochester Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial was in Novesta cemetery.

OPEN HOUSE—The children of Mr. and Mrs. John Wentworth of Capac are planning an open house for their parents' 50th wedding anniversary at the Burnside School Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. The school is located at the corner of M-53 and M-90. Mr. Wentworth and the former Lena Collins were married Oct. 21, 1908, in Sandusky. They lived on a farm near Cass City for several years before moving to Cass City where they operated a creamery business for 12 years. They moved to North Branch in 1931. Mrs. Wentworth was born in Shiawassee County Feb. 6, 1891, and Mr. Wentworth in Lapeer County July 30, 1888. The couple has four children: Wilfred of Detroit; Gladys of Pontiac; Velma of Brown City, and Irma of Capac. There are seven grandchildren. All relatives and friends are invited to attend the open house

John Wentworth Buys Brick Block

John Wentworth has purchased the brick block east of the Standard Oil Co.'s service station from Mrs. A. T. Crafts. He expects to remodel the upper floor for living rooms for his family and the lower floor will be used by the Parrott Creamery Co., of which he and his cousin, M. C. Wentworth, are the proprietors. They expect to move their creamery plant to the new quarters in the spring.

Wentworth funeral held Saturday Funeral services were held Saturday, May 3, for Mrs. John Wentworth, 78, of Detroit. The services were at the Novesta Baptist Church, with burial in Novesta cemetery. Mrs. Wentworth died April 29 in a Detroit hospital. She had been ill several months. The former Lena Collins, she was born Feb. 6, 1891, in New Lothrop, Mich. The Wentworths lived in Cass City from 1922-1930 and owned the Wentworth Creamery. Survivors include: her husband, John Wentworth: three daughters, Gladys Hutchinson, Irma Emery and VelmaHorton; one son, Wilfred Wentworth of Detroit; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Parrott Creamery and Doerr's Bakery Were Sold Within The Past Week. Changes in the proprietorships of two business houses, engaged in both wholesale and retail lines, were made within the past week in Cass City. Herman Doerr sold the equipment and business of the Doerr Bakery to Carl Almer of Detroit, who takes possession this week. Mr. Almer has had 28 years of experience in both city and country bake shops and has been engaged in business for himself a portion of that time. He intends to put in some new equipment in his plant here. Mr. and Mrs. Almer and three children have moved into the rooms over the bakery which have been remodeled for their use. The Parrott Creamery was sold on Saturday by John Lorentzen and Joseph Tesho to John Wentworth and M. C. Wentworth. The residence of John Wentworth on East Pine St. was traded in on the deal and becomes the property of Mr. Tesho. John Wentworth has secured a valuable experience in the manufacturing end of the creamery business in the four years he has been employed in local plants. His partner and cousin, M. C. Wentworth, expects to move to Cass City from his farm in Kingston township in the near future.

W.A. PARROTT BUYS WENTWORTH CREAMERY John Wentworth has sold his creamery business on East Main St. to Wm. A. Parrott, who took possession Monday morning. The new proprietor has had 16 years' experience in butter manufacturing, five years of which he conducted a creamery plant at Mr. Pleasant. During late years, Mr. Parrott has conducted a creamery on his Novesta township farm and his product met with a ready sale where it was retailed in Cass City. He expects to do business under the name of the Parrott Creamery. Mr. Wentworth is undecided regarding his future activities.
