Jacob Augustus West was born in 1877 in North Carolina. He is the son of Levy Barrett West and Mary Margaret Lee. He lived in Anderson Creek Township, Harnett County, North Carolina with his parents and siblings. In 1913, Jacob married Amanda Green and they lived together in Bunn Level, Harnett County where he was a farmer. He registered for the World War I Draft in 1918 in nearby Duke, Harnett County. Jacob and Amanda raised a their family in Bunn Level, Anderson Creek, and Manchester - all communities in Harnett County, North Carolina. Together, they had 10 children; 4 girls and 6 boys. He died of pneumonia at home in 1938 and his death was registered in Fayetteville, Cumberland County. Jacob Augustus West is buried in the Old West Graveyard in Linden, NC. [1]

He gives his date of birth as December 23, 1877, his occupation as 'farmer', and his address as Route 1, Bunn Level, Harnett County, North Carolina.
