2023 6 28 Anna Jane West born 1804, is stepdaughter to Sarah Gainey West (Gainey-48) and actual daughter to Silvey Harmon West (Harmon-1456). Silvey is second wife to Willis West Sr (West-3268). So we have a split ancestorial line for Willis' children. Gainey and Harmon. -Johnny Piver (Piver-37)

This profile has only name and dates for birth and death. The manager should provide some connection to children if this is to be a unique profile. There may be lots of Willis West persons, but I would contend that the match of both name and dates is sufficient to merge this Willis West with West-3268.

West-12121 and West-3268 appear to represent the same person because: Very little on West-12121 profile. It would match any with same name. No parents, sibs or children on it.

Instead of an off the cuff merge, more info needs to be updated on West-12121 by researcher who initiated the person. Due to the overwhelming number of Willis Wests from the Bladen,Sampson County areas, definitve proof must be provided for ther to be a subsequent merge. Thank you.

I agree. This Willis West, husband of Sarah Gainey was the son of James West, who was born around 1725. James Howard West is incorrect.

Information we have came from family book by Col. John Word West, entitled "Wests of the Cape Fear " and passed down from family members, including my grandfather Fred West.

Hello! We are related. I have that book. It is excellent! I've been working on James West, born around 1725, for many years. My male first cousin is a match to Familytreedna Y-Group 12. I have never been able to find a definitive record to find the parentage of James West. The will of his son Brittain West is invaluable since it gave all the names of his siblings. All of the records for James West list his name with no middle initial or middle name. I would love to visit with you. This is the profile I added...https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/West-16909
