Mr. and Mrs. Francis Asbury Greaves of Denton, Maryland, have announced the marriage of their daughter, Miss Mary Elaine Graves, and Sergt. Carlton Van West, Jr., son of Mr. Carlson Van West, Sr. register of wills of Caroline County, and Mrs. West of Denton. The ceremony was performed at the rectory of the Protestant Episcopal Church in Wichita Falls, Texas, by the Rev. Claude A. Beesley, the rector.

Married in the uniform of the SPARS, in which she holds the rank of seaman, first class, the bride carried white flowers.

After her graduation from St. Mary's Seminary, in St. Mary's County, Maryland in 1942, the bride enlisted in SPARS. She is stationed at St. Louis, Missouri.

Sergeant West, of the Basic Training Command of the Air Force, is sgtationed at Sheppard Field, Texas.

CARLTON V. WEST, 69, of Bowers Beach, formerly of Newark, died Wednesday of cancer in Kent General Hospital in Dover. Mr. West was in the Army for 26 years. He retired in 1969. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Ann; four daughters, Jacquelyn Boyles of Memphis, Tenn., Catherine McClain of Smyrna, Marcie Waybright of Felton, and Patricia DuHadway of Rolla, Mo.; two stepsons, Kenneth Robinson of Camden and Gary Robinson of Georgia; three stepdaughters, Carol Teel of Newark, Gail Lenhoff of Elkton, Md., and Amy Ferguson of Wilmington; two sisters, Katherine Mangold of Baltimore and Ann Hollingsworth of Federalsburg, Md.; and 16 grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. There will be no viewing.
