Nathaniel, son of Matthew West, was an immigrant to Plymouth Colony and later was one of the founding members of the First Baptist Church in Newport, Rhode Island. His wife was also mentioned at communion there on 12 Oct 1648.
In February 1658, Nathaniel made a trip to Plymouth Colony. He had a reason to go to Providence and while on his way there he fell through ice he was traveling over and drowned.
His son Nathaniel subsequently went to live with his grandfather Matthew West.
