Biography

John West4 (Francis West3, Susannah Soule2, George Soule1) was born in Kingstown Rhode Island about 1706, and before 1709.[1]

He married in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, March 1730/1 Alice Sweet by William Spencer, Justice [2] She was the daughter of William and Hannah Sweet. She was named in William's will and her son William was named executor.[1]

John West and wife Alice sold a number of land parcels in North Kingstown between 1731 and 1739, and he received land, part of their father's estate, from his brother Thomas, in 1740/1.[1]

John West was made freeman on North Kingstown in 1730. He is listed in the 1747 census of that town also.[1]

In June 1754, John West and his son William were ordered out of Scituate, Rhode Island, because their certificates were out of order. They returned fairly soon, and began a series of land speculations.[1]

John died probably in Scituate, Rhode Island after the 1774 census.[1]

Unfortunately, there are no birth, probate or division of property documents to provide the names of John's children.[1]

William is mentioned in the will of his grandfather Sweet[1]
Mehitable b. c. 1731 ?[1]
Elizabeth b. c. 1733 ?[1]
Deborah b. c 1735 ?[1]

The three daughters, need proof of their relationship. They were not mentioned in the wills of either of their grandfathers.[1]

West-7467 and West-7121 appear to represent the same person because: My West-7121 has become orphaned through changes with Data Doctor. Originally it represented the same John West as appears in West-7467.
Hi Teralea, thanks for the suggestion. However, it appears that several of my wikitree profiles have been gutted by Data Doctor-603 and I am now totally confused. As if wikitree wasn't difficult enough to navigate. I find this John West-7121 is now orphaned.
Hello Cheryl, is it possible that your John West-7121 could also be West-7467 Both born in same area both birthdays mentioned as "About" so could be the same.
