Biography
Rebecca West was born on November 5, 1808 in Harvey, New Brunswick. She was the daughter of Samuel West and Margaret Brewster.
Rebecca and Rufus Reed/Reid were married[1] on November 13th of 1828 in Hopewell, Albert, New Brunswick.
They had Children
- Lucy Reid 1830-1900
- Benjamin Reid 1832-1913
- Harris Hall Reid 1834-1892
- Margaret Reid 1839-1904
- Miner F Reid 1837-1882
- Annie Kezia Reid 1842 - ?
At the time of the 1851 Canada East, Canada West, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia Census, Rufus, Rebecca, Lucy, Benjamin, Harris, Miner, Margaret, and Kezia Anna Reed were listed as living in Harvey, New Brunswick.[2] The census lists Rebecca's age as 43, which is consistent with her birthdate in 1808. It also lists her “date of entering colony” as “birth”, which means that she was born in New Brunswick.
Rebecca died in Harvey on June 28, 1858, and was buried in Bay View Cemetery, Harvey.[3]
