Ethel May West is the daughter of John Henry West and Ellen Jane (Crowell) West. Ethel was the middle child with an older brother, Charles, and a younger sister, Lillian. Ethel contracted rheumatic fever that would affect her health for the rest of her life. She was an accomplished piano player and as an adult in the 1920's she played the piano at the theater for the silent movies. She also was an excellent cook and worked at various restaurants.
In 1909, in Iowa, Ethel married Chester Arthur Creery. Chester was born on September 15 1880. Ethel and Chester divorced in 1921, in Iowa. They had two daughters:
In 1922, in Iowa, Ethel married second Elmer Franklin Becker. Elmer was born in 1893, in Kansas. They divorced in 1942.
They were the parents of four children:
In 1942, in Minnesota, Ethel married third, Charles Andrew "Andy" Dumire. Charles was born on December 22 1888, in Mitchell, Mitchell, Iowa.
Ethel and Andy, her two young sons, Jimmy and Jerry, and Andy's nephew, Ron all moved to Balsam Lake, Wisconsin, where Andy and a forty acre farm.
In 1952, in Wisconsin, Ethel passed away at age 61.
