Biography

1849 Charlotte West was born in Wisconsin, USA in 1849. She was the daughter of John West and Rose Voirand. ^[1]

1850 When Charlotte was about one year old, she lived with her parents and siblings in Rochester, Racine County, Wisconsin, USA. Her father, who was born in England, was a farmer. Her mother was born in France. The 1850 US census shows the family as:

• Rose M West Female 23 France
• John H West Male 3 Wisconsin
• Charlott West Female 1 Wisconsin
• Rose A West Female 5 England^[1]

1870 - July Charlotte had married Francis Trimmer and on 19 July 1870 the couple were living in Read Township, Clayton, Iowa, USA where Francis was farming. Nearby lived Francis's parents.^[2] The census of 1870 recorded the couple as:

• Francis Trimmer Male 29 Ohio
• Charlotte Trimmer Female 21 Wisconsin^[3]

1870 - August Son Clarence R. Trimmer was born on 9 Aug 1870.^[4]

1876 Son William Trimmer was born on 31 Dec 1876.^[5]

1885 Son Henry C. Trimmer was born on 9 Nov 1885.^[6]

1900 Charlotte and her family lived on their own farm in Highland Township, Churdan Town, Greene County, Iowa, USA. She had had three children, all of whom were still living at the time of the 1900 US census in June 1900. The family appeared on the census report as:

1911 Husband Francis Trimmer died on 29 Nov 1911.^[8]

1920 Charlotte, her son Henry, and her grandson Lee lived on North Street in HIghland, Greene County, Iowa. Henry worked as a carpenter and Lee had a job as a machinst in a local factory.

1922 Son William married Nellie Black on 16 Jul 1922 in Greene County, Iowa, USA.^[10]

1931 Charlotte's son Clarence Trimmer, born (according to the death certificate) on 9 Aug 1870 in Clayton County, Iowa, USA, died on 1 Jul 1931 of heart disease. He had worked as a drayman and was married. Clarence died in Paton, Greene County, Iowa, USA.^[4]

1932 Charlotte Trimmer died on 13 Mar 1932 in Churdan, Greene County, Iowa, USA. She died of pneumonia following a bout of influenza. Charlotte was to be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery on 16 Mar 1932, according to her son Henry, who was the informant for the death certificae.^[11][12]
