Research Notes

Page 728 of the "The Wightman Ancestry" contains a correction to information on page 53 of George Wightman of Quidnessett by Mary Ross Whitman (1939), and page 53 of The Wightman Ancestry, volume 1. The correction clarifies that Jonathan Rathbun married Katherine (Wesctott) Wightman, widow of Daniel Wightman, not her daughter Katherine/Catherine Wightman who actually married Gershom Hinckley.[3]

Westcott-255 and Westcott-198 appear to represent the same person because: Please reconsider the merge. They have the same parents, the same husband, and the same children. Only the date of death is different.

George Wightman and Descendants states that Katherine (b. 1737) m. Jonathan Rathbu(r)n; however, it also states that Katherine (b. 1705) was LIVING 30 Jan 1753 and she is named in Daniel's will, so she can't have died on that date; I have edited her date of death. Records indicate that Katherine (1737) married Gershom Hinckley. The most likely scenario is that Katherine, wife of Daniel, married Rathbun as her second husband, but I haven't seen documentation for that.

Westcott-559 and Westcott-198 appear to represent the same person because: both profiles have the same parents, birthdate, and the same siblings. Westcott-559 lists spouse as Daniel Wightman and lists three dhildren. Westcott-198 lists Jonathan Rathburn as spouse, but lists all children with surname of Wightman.

I doubt very much that someone born 1705 married in 1714. Jonathan was married to Elizabeth in 1711, and Elizabeth was listed in his will. ???
