Abel was born to Johannes Westphale and Marretje Jacobsen Kool. He was born near present Accord, New York and baptized on February 9, 1696[3]He wed Annetje Bogert on February 25, 1717. They lived in present Montague, New Jersey and had seven children.

Abel Westphale was born ca. Feb 9, 1996, near present Accord, Ulster, New York. His baptism was recorded at the Kingston Reformed Dutch Church on February 9, 1696[1] #S951 [2]

Note: Prior to 1737, baptisms and marriages conducted at Minisink Valley area churches were recorded at the Kingston Reformed Dutch Church, Kingston, Ulster, NY.. The three Minisink churches operated together and kept common records; this confederation was called the Minisink-Machackemeck Reformed Church. All three churches were located on the Old Mine Road in Minisink. The Minisink Church (established August, 1737) was located about eight miles below Port Jervis, Deerpark, Orange, NY, in the present township of Montague, Sussex, NJ. The Machackemeck Church (established about 1743), was located about one mile above the Neversink River, in present village of Port Jervis, Deerpark, Orange, NY. The third church was the Walpeck Church (Established about 1737) that was located in the town of Walpeck, Sussex, NJ[14].

Abel Westfall died ca. 1755, at Hampshire Co, VA. Burial: Unknown at Hampshire Co, VA #S951
Abel Westphale died intestate in 1755 so Cornelius, as eldest son, inherited his father's land of 400 acres with one mile along the South Fork of The South Branch of the Potomac River.

He was the son of Johannes and Maritje (Kool) Westfall. He married 2-25-1717 Antjen "Anna" Bogaert (sometimes spelled Bogard or Bogart) in Minisink, Orange County, New York. She was the daughter of Cornelius and Eva (Hornbeck) Bogaert.
