Biography

Christopher was a Friend (Quaker)

Christopher Wetherill was b. 26 Feb 1710, the son of Thomas Wetherill and Anne.[1] His birth was recorded by the Burlington and Rancocas Monthly Meeting. In 1735 Christopher was condemned for marrying out of unity, for which he acknowledged his wrongdoing in writing, which was accepted. The record does not give his wife's name.[2] Christopher's will was proven on 17 Apr 1786. He named his wife Mary, and children Anna, Sarah, Isaac, Samuel and Joseph.[3]

Note N218Christopher, eldest son of Thomas and
Anne (Pearson) Wetherill, was born in
April, 1706. He inherited a large part of
the lands descending from his father and
grandfather in Burlington, Hunterdon,
Morris and Essex counties. New Jersey, de-
vising them at his death to his children,
most of whom had moved to Philadel)hia.
He married, in 1735, Mary, daughter of
Judge John Stockton, of the Common Pleas
Court of Somerset county. New Jersey, and
a sister of Richard Stockton, a signer of
the Declaration of Independence, from New
Jersey. She was a granddaughter of Rich-
ard Stockton, from Cheshire, England, one
of the early settlers of Princeton, New
Jersey, and a great-granddaughter of Rich-
ard Stockton, of Malapas, Cheshire, Eng-
land, baptized in 1606.

Wetherill-33 and Wetherill-22 appear to represent the same person because: same parents, no source to support birth date or place in -33, but his father was in New England by 1700 per source in father's profile, so birthplace on -22 is likely correct. Same spouse (see bio of -33). Same death year and place. Please merge
