Biography
Henrietta Lynde Parris Wheeler was born on Feb. 28, 1839 to Henry Wheeler and Mary Howe Thaxter.[1]
She married Rev. John Francis Aiken, son of John and Mary Means (Appleton) Aiken on Jan. 18, 1870 in Worcester, Massachusetts.[2] They had three children;
Fanny Appleton, born Aug. 16, 1871, died Jun. 19, 1883
Charles Avery, born Sep. 29, 1872, unmarried
Mary Thaxter, born Jul. 2, 1874, unmarried
Henrietta and John must have then divorced because he then married Emily Addie Andrus on May 9, 1878 in Pawlet, Vermont.[3] Rev. John Aiken and Addie had a son, John B. Aiken in 1879. Rev. Aiken then died in 1880.
Henrietta stated her status as that of a widow on all subsequent census records up until the time she died.
She applied for a passport in 1920 at which time she again stated that she was the widow of John F. Aiken.[4]
Henrietta Aiken died at the age of 82 years on Aug. 20, 1921 in Galveston, Texas.[5]
