Biography

Margery Wheeler was born 25 Apr 1600 at Thornbury, Gloucestershire, England.[1] She was the daughter of Abel Wheeler and Jane Shephard.

Margery married Thomas Thayer, who was baptized 15 Aug 1596 at Thornbury and died at Braintree, Massachusetts 2 Jun 1665. He was the son of Richard Thayer and Ursula Alice Dimery.[1] Thomas and his brother Richard emigrated to New England.[2][3]

Thomas and Margery married at Thornbury 13 Apr 1618:[1]

Thomas married on "xiijth dau [April 1618] at Thornbury to "Margerie Wheller." (WikiTree Margery Wheeler)[4]
Thomas Tayer and Margerie Wheeller, 13 Apr 1618, Thornbury, Gloucestershire[5]

Thomas Thayer, shoemaker, is the immigrant ancestor of this branch of the Thayer family.[3] He emigrated from Thornbury, England to New England in 1637[1] and settled in Braintree, Massachusetts. In 1639 Thomas received a grant of 76 acres of land in Braintree for nine people in his family.[3]

Children of Thomas Thayer and Margery Wheeler

Thomas and Margery had the following children:

  1. Thomas Thayer, baptized at Thornbury 15 Sep 1622[3][6]
  2. Ferdinando Thayer, baptized 18 Apr 1625[3][6]
  3. Shadrach Thayer, baptized 10 May 1629[3][6]

Margery Wheeler died in Blackstone, Massachusetts in 1672. [7]

Thomas Thayer died at Braintree, 2 Jun 1665. His widow Margery died 11 Feb 1672/73.[3][6]

Research Notes

Clifford Stott, author of the 1998 article in The American Genealogist, reprinted all the Thornbury records and the will of John Thayer in an effort to correct the extensive errors in the 1906 Register articles. Errors in transcription and date interpretation led the authors to make significant errors in the genealogy. Others (including Thomas Thayer Ojeda) who relied on these articles continued the same errors.[4]

Thayer-4362 and Wheeler-165 appear to represent the same person because: Please merge into Wheeler-165. Thayer is married name.

There are still some issues here:

1) There is no record of Thomas having a daughter Margery

2)The source on here is a death record for Margery Thayer wife of Thomas Thayer died in Braintree 11 Dec 1672.

If there are not objections, I'd like disconnect from parents and merge with Margery Wheeler, unless there are sources that support the info.

Hi Margie:

I've been trying to figure out this profile. I think that the birth date is a mistake, and that this is actually this person is really the same person as the mother she's attached to. The death record is confusing because of the old calendar, and the fact that the Blackstone recorded deaths from other towns. Please let me know if you have any objections to updating the birth date, disconnecting and merging with the mother.

Wheeler-165 and Wheeler-10965 appear to represent the same person because: Same name. Same birth month & year. Same death date.

Wheeler-4169 and Wheeler-165 appear to represent the same person because: Unclear why this was rejected - pretty obviously the same person.
