Newbury vital records do not show a William, son of David. There is an unnamed son born on this date, with the missing name coded as ——-. That record follows record of a William, born 1731, and I think someone misinterpreted —— to mean repetition of the name above. Looking at the record (https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-C9BR-H9FT-2?i=278 ), you see that a repeated name is written out repeatedly and not coded as ——. I looked at both the birth and death records of Newbury and believe that this person did not exist. I appreciate comments from others.
…further, Coffin’s history of Newbury lists one William, who was a brother (not son) of David and who did not emigrate with John Wheeler’s family to the New World. Archive.org link, see p 322. I propose changing parentage on this profile to match David Wheeler’s, making other adjustments, and then merging this profile with Wheeler-634.
