Biography

Parentage; Date and Place of Birth

Based on his date and place of marriage, Francys Wheeler was probably born about 1540 in Salisbury, Wiltshire. Some online family trees show that Francys was the son of a John Wheeler of Wing, Buckinghamshire. However, no reliable evidence has been found to support that proposition, and both John's estimated date of birth of about 1490 and the distance between Wing, Buckinghamshire and Salisbury, Wiltshire (85 miles) are contrary evidence.

Marriage(s) and Children

Francys married Margerye Owen at St. Edmunds, Salisbury on May 10, 1565.^[1][2][3] Since the date of son Richard's baptism before the date of Francy's marriage to Margerye Owen, either one of the dates was misrecorded or Francys had a prior wife who died in April 1565.

Francys had the following children.

1. Richard, bpt. April 14, 1565 at St. Edmunds,^[4] bur. April 15, 1566^[5]
2. Eyedeth, bpt. November 16, 1567 at St. Edmunds^[6]
