At the end of 1841, the family migrated as assisted passengers to Australia. They left at Plymouth on the 30 Oct 1841 aboard the Himalaya and arrived on the 26 Feb 1842 in Port Philip, Victoria, Australia.[2]
The Ship records show that
Reuben was aged 38 and a labourer and the government paid a bounty of 19 pounds.
Elizabeth was aged 37, a housekeeper and the government paid a bounty of 19 pounds.
George was 5 and the government paid a bounty of 5 pounds.
Selina was 7.5 and the government paid a bounty of 10 pounds.
Selina married twice
Thomas Crump on 30 December 1850 in the Melbourne Wesleyan Church, Port Philip(now Victoria), Australia.[3] Thomas died on 13 April 1874 in Hawthorn, Victoria, Australia. [4]
Abel Jones on 14 March 1876 Fitzroy, Victoria.[5] Selina became a widow for the second time on 20 February 1897 when Abel died on 20 February 1897 in Melbourne Benevolent Asylum, Hawthorn, Victoria, after 21 years of marriage.[6]
Two years after Selina's second husband died Selina also died in July 1899. She was found drowned in the Yarra River at Studley Park on the 25th of July 1899 and buried in Kew Cemetery, Boroondara, Victoria, Australia.[7] Although Selina drowned the cause of her drowning is unknown the inquest returned an open verdict, as there "was no evidence to show how she got into the water".[8][9][10]
The Epitaph on her grave reads:
In / Memory of / Thomas Crump / Died 13 th April 1874 / Aged 59 years / Also his wife / Selina / Died 25th July 1899 / Aged 65 years and her daughter / Christina Barton / Died 2nd Octr 1915 / Aged 51 years / and her children / Albert and Myrtle / Died in infancy
