Biography

Martha Wheeler was the daughter of Josiah and Martha (Prescott) Wheeler.[1] Martha was likely born in Concord, Massachusetts.[2]

Martha married first Edward Broughton, about 1717. They had at least one known child: [1]

  • Sarah, b January 13, 1723, m Thomas White.

According to another source, there were three children; the other two were:[3]

  • Copia, m Silas Rice
  • Patience, m William Richardson

In Martha's father's will, Josiah Wheeler named his wife Martha; daughters Martha Wilder, Experience Pollard, Thankful Fairbanks, Dinah Stearns; granddaughters Sarah, Copia and Patience Broughton. [4][5] Josiah Wheeler's will was dated 5 December 1738 and proved 06 February 1738/9.

Edward is presumed to have died in about 1733.

Martha married second, James Wilder, December 24, 1734, in Lancaster, Massachusetts.[6] Martha and James had seven children.[3]

Martha (Wheeler) Wilder died March 19, 1774, in Lancaster, Massachusetts.[7]
