I was born 3 months before JFK was assasinated on a Thursday. When I was born, my parents and first sister lived on Maple Avenue in Mundelein, Illinois. At that time, my father decided to have a house built. He was looking in Libertyville and Grayslake. He decided to have a Seacats split-level ranch house built at 626 Manor Avenue in Grayslake. The story has it that a Real-Estate agent tried to sell my dad some property right by the Des Plaines River on Rt 137 in Libertyville, and my dad told him 'No, this is on a flood plaine and it will flood every year until they put in some controls on the river.' (Dad was with the Army Corps of Engineers.) Sure enough, up until Libertyville put in a new drainage canal in the early 2000's it did flood every year!
The house in Grayslake was completed in early to mid 1964 and he moved us in. It had, starting at the basement and going up, a crawlspace, a recreation room and utility room. Later dad built a half-bathroom there. Ground floor was the Kitchen and a Living room with a cathedral ceiling. Going upstairs, you had the Master bedroom to the right, Small Bedroom directly at the top of the stairs, and a 3rd bedroom to the left, next to a full bath. The floors were mainly wood parquet in the living room and bedroom areas, linelolium in the Kitchen and Rec room, and painted concrete in the crawlspace, utility room and half-bath.
At that time, the Manor subdivision didn't have alot of houses in it. My first sister was 14 years older than I was, so I really don't remember alot about her. I made the usual friends while growing up. I entered school at Lakeview Elementary School in Grayslake in 1968. I remember riding there with my mother in our old '62 VW bug. I was sooooo excited. In first grade I had my mouth washed out with soap for lying to the teacher, hence the first nick-name I ever had, "Captain Soapy" appeared.

David, could you give me a hand with the merge request for Orlenia Jeffers? It would be helpful to open her profile or add me to the trusted list. Thanks!
I believe that I found the burial place of your Henry, Benjamin Harrison and Sallie G. (Laxton) FREEMAN. Please contact me for further info on this family in Independence Co. AR.
Hi David, You may have missed a merge request from me - it is on the bottom left of the profile. (Stokes-17) You may have other pending merges as well, they are listed under Find at the very top right of the page. Thank you
David, I am looking up Grace Florence Olsen (born Clinton) who was born around 1910 in Chicago, IL (possibly). Her son, my father, died in 2008 and I can't find any history on his mom Grace or father Victor L. Olsen. I think she died in the 1980's in Phoenix, AZ. Can you help me out?
That would be awesome. Plz do send me a copy of the tree. My mother will be so happy to see it. My email is [email address removed] Thanks again for taking the time to mssg me and respond.
Re: "Morses Frances" Johnson (who is my grandmother's brother). I have his name as "Moses Francis". He is buried in Douglas County MO, but I have not been able to locate a death certificate for him at the MO state site (which, in all other resptects, is great).
My late father (died 1980) apparently remembered him. About a year ago, I found a note from a long-ago discussion with my dad when he referred to "Uncle Moe".
Thank You so much for giving me access to your info. I have also given you access to all the Profiles that I have uploaded about my family up to George Jr. I hate to ask but do you think you could be so kind as to let me have access to the other information you have on the Freeman family only. I am interested in seeing if I have the line correct and hope that maybe we can go farther back than 1407. I would also like to discover who this mystery Freeman is.
