Thaddeus Chad Wheeler was born on 13 September 1833 in Fort Edward, Washington, New York, United States to Lewis J. Wheeler (1792-1887) and Mary Robinson (1791-1852).

  3. Adeline Wheeler was born on 5 March 1815 in Fort Edward, Washington, New York, United States. She married Benjamin L. Johnson (1804-1866) c. 1838. Adeline died after June1880 when she appeared on the United States Federal Census as a widow living with her daughter Francis Townsend.
  4. George L. Wheeler was born on 26 July 1817 in Fort Edward, Washington, New York, United States. He married Sara Jane Boggs (1817-1892) on 4 July 1842 in Farmersville, Cattaraugus, New York. George died on 23 December 1906 in Lodomillo Township, Clayton County, Iowa, United States.
  5. William Henry Wheeler was born on 1 January 1819 in Fort Edward, Washington, New York, United States. He married Rebecca Lindsay (1826-1907) on 4 July 1845 when she was 18 and he was 26. William died on 19 September 1913 in Allegany, Cattaraugus, New York, United States.
  6. Annis Wheeler was born on 3 April 1820 in Fort Edward, Washington, New York, United States. She married Nathan A. Boutell (1818-1888) on 15 August 1841 in Little Valley, Cattaraugus, New York. Annis died on 27 June 1852 in Ayersville, Defiance, Ohio, United States.
  7. Charles M. Wheeler was born on 12 May 1821 in Fort Edward, Washington, New York, United States. He was born deaf and couldn't speak according to censuses. He never married and was cared for by various family members all of his life while he labored for them. Charles died after 16 February 1892 when he appeared on the New York State Census living with his sister Helen Wheeler (1837-1922) who was married to Roswell Spaulding (1827-1920) and farming in Allegany, New York at the age of 70.
  8. Mary Ann Wheeler was born in July 1824 in Fort Edward, Washington, New York, United States. She married Elen Northrup (1822- after 6 June 1900) c. 1850. The last record found for both Mary was the 1905 New York Census when she was 81, head of household, and living with her daughters Nellie and Alice in Le Ray, Jefferson, New York.
  9. Ruben Wheeler was born on 31 January 1826 in Fort Edward, Washington, New York, United States. He probably died c. 1839 as his age group is not even accounted for in the Tally only Federal Census in 1840 when he would have been 13.
  10. Elizabeth Wheeler was born on 17 May 1828 in Fort Edward, Washington, New York, United States. She married Jacob Karne Myers (1821-1905) on 28 March 1849 in Clermont County, Ohio as the 2nd of his 3 wives. Elizabeth died on 6 April 1886 in Ayersville, Defiance, Ohio, United States.
  11. Joseph A. Wheeler was born on 11 September 1832 in Fort Edward, Washington, New York, United States. He married Eunice R. Shirline (1838-1925), his stepsister, on 16 September 1854 in Yorkshire, Cattaraugus, New York. Joseph died on 23 December 1913 in Allegany, Cattaraugus, New York, United States.
  12. Helen M. Wheeler was born on 4 October 1837 in Yorkshire, Cattaraugus, New York, United States. She married Roswell Spaulding (1827-1920) c. 1858 as his second wife. Helen died on 4 January 1922 in Olean, Cattaraugus, New York, United States.

  3. Elmer T. Wheeler was born in April 1864 in Allegany, Cattaraugus, New York, United States. He married Nettie Estelle Robinson (1869-1943) on 3 July 1889 in Olean, Cattaraugus, New York. Elmer died on 27 September 1906 in Olean, Cattaraugus, New York, United States.

Military Service

He fought in the American Civil War for the Union Army. He enlisted for service on the "USS Paw Paw"[1] as Landsman for 1 year on 3 Sep 1864 in Farmersville, New York and was paid a bounty of $300 by the town and $300 by the County. The town also gave relief to his family while he was gone. He was discharged on 28 June 1865. The enlistment says that he is married and gives the name of his father as Lewis Wheeler and mother as Mary "Robson". There's a Civil War letter posted 20 April 1865 from Adaline Shirline to her sister Eunice R. Shirline and it mentions him and other members of the family. There is a United States Navy Pensions Index that shows his pension as approved, but no dates.

Death and Burial

Thaddeus died on 4 September 1869 in Allegany, Cattaraugus, New York, United States according to the United States Federal Mortality Schedules, 1850-1885, of consumption. He was 35 years old and a brick mason by trade. He was buried in the Allegany Cemetery, Allegany, Cattaraugus, New York. Plot: Section B1, Plot 60, Grave 1. Find A Grave: Memorial #121481125
