William was born in Cardiff, Wales in 1879.
He married his wife, Minnie, on Boxing day, 1901 at cardiff Registry Office.
In 1915 he lived at 150 Pearl Street, Roath, Cardiff.
During WW1 he served in the British Army, 5th Super Battalion Welsh Regiment and also the 3rd Welsh Regiment. His regimental number was 39654.
He first enlisted on October 21st, 1915.
After suffering from Pneumonia in February 1915 he was discharged on August 15th 1916 as physically unfit for war service due to breathing problems.
His certificate for discharge lists his Character as "Very good"
His army pension record in June 1916 states that he was 5 feet and 6 inches tall, with black hair and grey eyes.
