Biography

Luman Seaver, Luman Wheeler and Sarah Seaver, was born 11 Jan 1820 in Ohio and died 23 Jul 1908 in San Francisco, California.^[1]

He married Elizabeth B Ruffner on 7 Jul 1847 at Louisa, Iowa.^[2]

The 1870 census of Amador, California, listed Luman S Wheeler (54, laborer, $400 real estate, $100 personal property, b. OH), Elizabeth (42, keeping house, b. IA), John S (14, at home, b. CA), Eliza (11, at home, b. CA), William (8, at home, b. CA), Alice (6, at home, b. CA), and Nelly (3, at home, b. CA).^[3]

The 1880 census of San Jose, Santa Clara, CA, listed Luman C Wheeler (56, carpenter, b. OH, parents b. OH), Elizabeth B (48, wife, keeping house, b. VA, father b. VA, mother b. OH), John S (23, son, works on farm, b. CA, father b. OH, mother b. VA), Florence E (19, dau, works glove factory, b. CA, father b. OH, mother b. VA), Willie H (17, son, works on farm, b. CA, father b. OH, mother b. VA), Alice E (14, dau, at school, b. CA, father b. OH, mother b. VA), and Nellie M (dau, 12, at school, b. CA, father b. OH, mother b. VA).^[4]

According to his obituary:

"In San Francisco, Cal., July 23, 1908, L. S. Wheeler, beloved husband of Mrs. E. B. Wheeler and father of William H. Wheeler, Mrs. O. D. Vorr [sic; should be Dorr] and Mrs. Walter Hall of San Jose, Frank A. Wheeler of Tillamook, Ore., a native of Ohio, aged 86 years. Funeral Saturday at 1:15 p. m. Interment at Oak Hill."^[5]
