Joanna was born 16 November 1740, in Lancaster, Massachusetts. She was the daughter of Jonathan Wheelock and Elizabeth Russell.
Joanna married Ephraim Carter in April 1770 in Leominster. Joanna and Ephraim had the following children:

She passed away in 1803.
Research notes
Supposedly there is a second birth record in Leominster for a Joanna born in 25 Nov 1748, which would match her age on her headstone. Will update when I locate a sourceCole-12288 19:43, 20 September 2018 (UTC)

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Joanna by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.

I was going to stick with the 1740 date b/c there is a primary source for it, but when I see that if she was born in 1740 she would have been 52 when Cephas was born...which isn't impossible, but makes me think that 1748 is correct, and in line with her age on her headstone. I'd like to change the date to 1748. What do you think?
