Sometime after the Revolutionary War, Lyman went to Ashfield, MA (originally called Huntstown), perhaps to visit his aunt, Mercy Daniels Williams. Mercy had married Ephraim Williams, who owned a lot of property in Ashfield. It is possible that while there he met Ephraim's sister Mercy Williams, whom he would marry in about 1782. No record has been found of this marriage. The approximate date is based upon the birth of their first child, Daniel Williams Wheelock. Sometime after their marriage, they moved to Easton, Bristol, MA, where Mercy had been born and raised. Lyman lived there for the rest of his life, dying in 1848.
