Laney was a daughter of. Dempsey Whiddon and his wife, Martha Rhoda Barwick Whiddon, who lived much of their lives in Montgomery and Washington counties, GA. Together, they formed a church in 1824 called Sister's Meeting House in Sandersonville, GA.
The names of many of Laney's siblings, incuding Hampton, Green, Jared Irwin, and Rhoda Ann, were passed along through the Gandy family.
Some researchers show a middle name of Elizabeth for Laney Whiddon, but I have not been able to confirm that she had a middle name.
1830 Leon County, FL, Census shows Max W. Gandy, age 21-30, with a female of the same age range.
1840 Thomas County, GA, Census shows Max W. Gandy, age 30-40, with Laney of the same age group, ande 3 sons and 2 daughters.
1850 Thomas County Census shows Max W. Gandy, age 44, with Laney, age 43, and 10 children: Jane, Green, Francis, Uney, Jarrett (Jared), Harrison, John, Nazary, Leah, and James.
