  • Jonas, b.1784

His second marriage, in 1786, was to Hannah Janney. There were no children of this marriage.[1]

His third marriage, in 1789, in the Crooked Run Meeting House (Quaker), was to Patience McKay, the daughter of Andrew and Jane McKay. They lived near the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains, in Fouquier County, Virginia. In about 1805, they moved to Ohio, living on the Little Miami River, close to what became the town of Morrow. [1] This couple had seven children. [2]

Robert WHITACRE. Born 30 Sep 1758 in Greenwich Twp (Warren) NJ. Died 18 Sep 1828 in Miami (Warren) OH. Buried in Old Quaker Cem. Salem Twp (Warren) OH.

Moved to Warren Co. Ohio abt 1805 Have probate/will package for Robert Whitacre 'A Genealogical Index of Miami Valley Pioneers, Ohio' p.192 says 2nd wife was Hannah Young, as does 'Beers History of Warren Co. 1882'. Wilmer Kerns book 'Shanholtzer History and Allied Family Roots....' says 2nd wife Hannah Janney. Mentioned in Encyclopedia of American Quaker Genealogy, Vol VI, p. 719/720 Warren Co Ohio Will Records 1803-1853 Bk 3 p. 217-219 Married 11 Nov 1789 at Ninevah (Crooked Run MM) VA and see for life details.Born Bucks Co. PA from Cemetery Vol VI p. 384 Warren Co Ohio, Warren Co Genealogical Soc. Date of birth of Jonas based upon the following; Early Church Records of Loudoun County Virginia 1745-1800 by Marty Hiatt p.84 states in the Fairfax MM Men's minutes for 8th mo 1777 "...Complaint against Robert Whitace for fornication with Alice Britain, she having charged him with being the father of her illegitimate child, which he does not wholly deny..." This means that Jonas's mother wasn't Sarah Roach, it was Alice Britain. This opinion is based upon an entry in Israel Janney's Store and Mill Book Folio 142 Robert Whitacre account 4 mo 29 day 1788 which shows Robert purchased a spelling book. If Jonas had been the child of Sarah he would have only been approximately 4 years old, too young to need a spelling book. However if Jonas had been born in 1777 he would be 11 years old, old enough to need the book. This plus the fact that no Quaker record could be found showing a birthdate or any mention of Jonas being the son of Sarah Roach.

He first married Sarah ROACH, 28 May 1783 in Fairfax (Loudoun) VA. Born 22 Apr 1760. Died Before 1787.
