Biography

"W. D. 'Doss' Lancaster and Leonora "Lone" Armitage Whitaker were married on February 22, 1866, in the home of James Olive, Madison, County, Illinois, by Rev. Runge, the witnesses were John Walle and Mary Olive."

Not much is known about 'Lone's ancestry except that she was born in Missouri, March 25, 1844. She was living with an Olive family during the 1860 Census (see information below).

"One of her memories was riding in a covered wagon and being chased by Indians.

"How 'Doss' met her and why they were married in Illinois is not known."

"They Lived on a farm at the Maple Grove community, near his father, Edmund Lancaster's home place in the nearby Oak Grove community in Trigg County, Kentucky."
