She was the 3rd daughter of William Charles Whitaker and Edith May Gamble, of Auckland.
In 1929 she married 1ly Benjamin Rawson Davenport, with issue two sons. They were second cousins; her mother and his mother were first cousins, their common great-grandparents being Matira Te Pokiha and Henry Riley Calvin Bennett. He died in 1957.
She married 2ly Frederick Harry (Fred) Cooper, without children.

She died on 18 May 1980 in Auckland, aged 68. She was Cremated on 20 May 1980. In July 1980 her Ashes were Interred in Waikumete Cemetery, Auckland. Her widower died in 1983 and his Ashes were Interred with her.
