Biography

William, son of Resolved White and Judith (Vassall) White, was born either the 10th or 18th of April, 1642, in Scituate, then part of Plymouth Colony.[1][2][3][4]

There is no record that he ever married.[1]

He was living in Marshfield, 2 July 1675, with Josiah Winslow and family. Josiah made his will that date naming half-brothers Resolved and Peregrine White and bequeathed to "kinsman William White a bed ... and sheets at what time he shall leave my wife and family." 13 March 1684/5, Samuel and Josiah, his brothers, and Resolved, their father, provided for William's care. They quitclaimed an island in Marshfield to John Branch, tenant of "William White eldest son of Resolved." Branch agreed to "Maintaine the sd William White ... in sickness & in health dureing the Terme of his Naturall Life." 19 Sep 1687 William White signed and acknowledged a quitclaim of his rights in the island to Branch.[1][5]

He died in Marshfield, Massachusetts, on January 24, 1695.[1][2][6][7]

No Plymouth County probate has been found for William.[1]

Does he in any way link the William White of Long Island to the William White of Marshfield? This William of Marshfield is not known to have left Plymouth Colony, and was resident there, unmarried, in 1675, which would be six years after the marriage. Is there anything else known about Mary Katherine Downs?
