His name is spelled Mahershel H. White , M.H.White or H.M. White in all documents I can locate. I located a 1850 census that lists family members it appears except a father. I'm still trying to locate a legal document or something to confirm his father's name, Family stories say it is James T. White. His brother's name is James T. White according to the 1850 census so maybe he is a jr?
He served in the Civil War Confederate Army as an Army Sergeant 29th Texas Cavalry. There are stories that say he served as a baptist minister under General Lee but have not found anything to confirm this as of yet. He died of Typhoid Fever September 21, 1878.
Family story has it that Elizabeth Ann Suttles White wrote a letter to Eliza (her daughter)and said the following " I was born in an Indian camp in Alabama and married in an Indian camp in Lauderdale Mississippi" https://www.genealogy.com/ftm/h/a/y/Peggy-Haynie-Ok/WEBSITE-0001UHP-0039.html.
