Nancy was born on 6 October 1775 at Lunenburg, Virginia, British Colonial America[1]. She was the daughter of William White Sr and Mary Marvula Hooper.

She married Stephen Dickson in Franklin County, Georgia on 11 September 1803[1]. They had at least five children.

  3. Wiley Pope (1809 - 1858)
  4. Stephen Light (1811 - 1880)
  5. Samuel Carter (1817 - 1904)

She was mentioned in her father's will dated 25 February 1817[2]:

"After my wife's death, I give unto my daughter, Nancy Dixon, one Negro woman named Rachel and her increase to her and her heirs of her body forever."

In 1830 she was living in Coweta County, Georgia[3]. In her husband's household were one female aged between 50 and 59 (Nancy), one male between 40 and 49 (her husband), three males between 20 and 29, one male between 15 and 19 and one male between 10 and 14. She was at the same place in 1840[4]. As well as Nancy and Stephen now aged between 49 and 60, there were two males from 30 to under 40, and one male from 20 to under 30. Seven people were employed in agriculture, and they had seven slaves as well, four males and three females.

Her husband Stephen died on 8 January 1848 at Newnan, Coweta, Georgia. In 1850 she was living with her son Wiley P (a farmer aged 40) on his property worth $6,000 at Division 19, Coweta, Georgia[5]. Also in the household were her son Samuel C (a farmer aged 27), Samuel's wife Martha (23) and John Purcel (13) or Purcer[6]. Nancy was aged 76, had been born in Virginia, and she was deaf.

Nancy died on 15 August 1851 at Coweta County, Georgia[1].
