Biography

Martha was born 4 March 1706 in Hatfield, Hampshire County, Massachusetts the daughter of Deacon John and Hannah (Wells) White. ^{[1] [2]}

She married Joseph Olmsted and they had eight children: Joseph, Hannah, Martha, John, David, Elijah, Asa, and Simeon.

Martha died 8 September 1791 and is buried near many Olmsted family members in the Enfield Street Cemetery, Enfield, Hartford county, Connecticut. ^[3]

Mrs Martha
the amiable Relict of
Joseph Olmsted, Esq.
who died Sept 8, 1791
in the 85 year of her age

Forbear to weep my loving friends,
Death is the voice Jehovah sends,
To call us to our home
Thro these dark shades from pain redrest,
Is the right path to endless rest.

There is a clear photo on the Find-a-Grave Memorial with a transcription that includes the final three lines that were buried when the monument was reset.
