Biography

White County, the 123rd of the 159 counties formed in Georgia, was created in 1857 from a part of the original landlot county of Habersham. The county was named for Newton County Representative David T. White, who helped a Habersham representative successfully attain passage of an act creating the new county.

Obituary: Death: Feb. 5, 1871 Conyers Rockdale County Georgia, USA On Sunday morning last, the 5th instant, Judge David T. White, one of the oldest and most esteemed citizens of Conyers, died after about twenty-four hours severe suffering with spasms, age nearly sixty years. The people of this vicinity will not soon cease to feel the loss in this sudden bereavement. His health, which had for years been feeble, was about as usual, until Saturday morning, when he was taken with violent convulsions, which followed each other in rapid succession, during which he seemed unconscious, and continued until his death. - Covington Enterprise.
