Biography

Joseph was born in 1745. He died in 1793 at the age of 46 - 47.

Parents: Thomas Lilly White Sr. 1712 - 1804 and Margaret (Denton) White 1725 - 1803.

Spouse: Martha (Lusk) White 1747 - 1793. They were married 10/30/1766 in Nash, North Carolina.

Children: 12 are listed on his FamilySearch page. Link below.

Joseph White and Martha Lusk were married in 1766, per his Bible record. They were married in Virginia and "set out for North Carolina" soon after their marriage. They may have been from a Quaker family. The Lusks came from Ireland to Pennsylvania on a Quaker ship and later moved to the Shenandoah Valley.

Joseph and Martha eventually found their way to Burke County, North Carolian and settled on Silver Creek (Southwest area of the County). This area was settled by Scotch-Irish families from Pennsylvania and Shenandoah Valley, Virginia. It is thought that they were in a wagon train with other family members going to the Whiteside Settlement.

Around 1790, Joseph and Martha left Burke County for Knox County Tennessee. Joseph died in Knox County in 1793 & left a will there.
