He was born on May 18, 1843, in Liverpool, Lancashire, England, and Baptized on February 23, 1846, in Liverpool, at Saint Peter Church. Thomas was Baptized the same day as his sister, Sarah Ellen. No documentation has been found, to date, of Thomas being married. He appears to have worked as a seaman in the 1870's on two different ships.
