Biography

Mrs. Freda Lucielle (White) Branson was born July 8, 1915 in Pana, Christian Co., Illinois, to Steve E. White and Estella-May "Stella" Snow. She was later adopted by her mother's husband, Granville Dillard Oiler. She married 3 times:[1]

Freda died at 92 years old at the Franklin Grove Nursing Center, Amboy, Lee Co., Illinois, USA, on May 9, 2008. Survivors include one daughter, Shirley (John) Ehman of Maryland; two sons, Wayne Smith and Wilbur Smith, both of Amboy; 14 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and one brother, Earl Oiler of Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mary Ellen McLindsay; one son, William Darwin Smith; two sisters, Ellen (Oiler) Renner and Eva Mae Oiler; three brothers, Dillard Oiler, Leo Oiler and Bob White.

Freda (White) Branson had worked at the Lee County Nursing Home in Eldena and was also involved in the grandparent program at Amboy Central School for 18 years, retiring in 1996. A memorial has been established to the East Grove Union Church.

Freda died May 9, 2008. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., May 13 at the Miham-Jones FuneralHome in Amboy with Rev. Frank Brozenec, pastor of the East Grove Union Church officiating. Burial was at Prairie Repose Cemetery in Amboy. Freda worked at the Lee County Nursing Home in Eldena and was also involved in the grandparaent program at Amboy Central School for18 years, retiring in 1996.[2]
