Stanley Victor WHITEHAND was born on 9 May 1892 in Coghills Creek, Glendaruel, Colony of Victoria[1]. He was the son of George WHITEHAND and Mary Martha ROBERTS.
13 July 1915, Stanley enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force; Service number: 1443[2]. He was assigned to the 7th Reinforcement, 13th Light Horse Regiment and transferred to the 2nd Australian Divisional Ammunition Column, set sail aboard HMAT A40 Ceramic on 23 November 1915 for service in France, attained the rank of Driver, returned to Australia aboard H.T. Runic (10 June 1919-2 August 1919) and was discharged on date unknown.

He passed away on 17 September 1973 in Geelong, Victoria, Australia[6] and was buried at the Geelong Western Public Cemetery[7]
