Biography

This profile is part of the Whitehead Name Study.
Mary was a Friend (Quaker)

Daughter of Arthur and Isabella (Purcell) Whitehead (1693-1744), born around Pagan Creek, Isle of Wight County Virginia. She married Benjamin Denson (1720-1781) on 15 Aug 1747 at Pagan Creek. They had at least eleven children born to this union whose names are documented as follows: Hulda, Mary, Elizabeth, Joseph (who married Mary Watkins, daughter of John and Jane Watkins, 19 May 1776 at Rich Square Monthly Meeting in Northampton County, North Carolina),[1] Ann, Benjamin, Jesse, Jethro (1750-1800), Molly, John, and Isabella Denson.[2]

Her burial location is unknown.[2]

Ann Arbor, Michigan: Edwards Brothers, Inc. A citation on FamilySearch references Ancestry records, which reference a Suffolk Virginia, marriage 20th day, sixth month, 1747 with Mary Whitehead's residence being Suffolk, and the Monthly Meeting being Chuckatuck, Nansemond (County) Western Branch, Somerton. A later Hinshaw volume will have the Virginia records.

Yes Mikey, they seem to share birth and death dates. They may be cousins sharing one Whitehead grandfather. However, we need to be careful since this family repeats the names for many generations!

Whitehead 2380 and 1283 seem to be using same info for birth and death, fathers are different, both have brother Lazarus. If not duplicates, data may be mixed up.
