Biography

Margaret was born about 1801 in Ireland and died about 1882 in Guelph, Wellington County, Ontario, Canada. She was buried at Woodlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Guelph, Ontario, Canada.[1]

Margaret married Archibald McKee (1795-1877) of Ireland about 1826/27. Their first child, Mary Ann was born about 1828 in Ontario Canada

In 1864, Margaret's father, George Whiteside passed away. Named in his will: Wife Jane Whiteside. Sons Joseph and Arthur (Arthur noted as being away with the US army). Step-son James Simpson. Daughters Mary, Alice and Eleanor (Eleanor noted as being unmarried). Also named sons William Whiteside and George Whiteside, and daughters Margaret McKee and Rebecca Gordon. [2]

In 1871 Margaret, 66 her husband Archibald, 76 their two children, William, 26, Amelia, 21 and their granddaughter, Caroline Amelia, 8 were living in Halton, Ontario, Canada.[3]

Reference Notes

Very little information could be found on Margaret Whiteside with regard to birth, marriage and death records. She is found however in the 1871 Canadian Census where Ireland is listed as the country of her birth. Her headstone, pictured here shows 1801 as her birth year.
