Elizabeth "Betsy" Whitfield was the daughter of William Whitfield and Hester Williams. [1] In her father William Whitfield's Last Will and Testament signed 2 February 1816, she was referred to as one of his children, Elizabeth Kethly.[2]
According to the referenced book (page 69), she married John Keathley. See research notes about husband's surname.
In the 1820 U.S. Census, John Kethley was enumerated 7 August 1820 in Mississippi, Feliciana, Louisiana, as head of a 23 person household, including two adults male and female, both over age 45 (conjectured to be John and Elizabeth).[3]
Research Notes
Husbands surname: There are several variant spellings Kethley, Kethly, Keathley, Keathly, Keithley etc.
Montgomery County, Tennessee: There is some evidence that prior to moving to Louisiana they lived in Montgomery County, Tennessee. Further research required.
Death Date: She died sometime after the 1820 U.S. Census Enumeration date, 7 August 1820. Some researchers believe that she died 12 March 1823, but no sources have been provided for that specific date. Both John and Elizabeth are said to have died in Feliciana Parish, Louisiana.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Elizabeth by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Elizabeth:
Their son, Private John Kethley 1796 - 1880. Findagrave page, #218097681. Spelled "Kethley" and there is a copy of a signed document on the page also spelled that way.
Whitfield-1216 and Whitfield-282 do not represent the same person because: Two different people, not a match. Person identified in profile Whitfield-1216 might not be a Whitfield. Suggest changing her surname to unknown. For Whitfield-1216, no extant record shows her maiden name as Whitfield, nor that she was connected to this family.
Not the same person. The Elizabeth represented in profile Whitfield-1261 may not be a Whitfield. The referenced ancestry.com profile is a real MESS, it's a hodgepodge profile which doesn't make any sense. Some of the sources, for example the 1960 Boston city directory and S.A.R. record are so wrong. The S.A.R. record is for Elizabeth (Whitfield) Smith, daughter of William Whitfield and Rachel Bryan and wife of Alexander Smith.
Anyway, that ancestry.com profile is not reliable.
Thanks.
Whitfield-1214 and Whitfield-282 appear to represent the same person because: Here is a orphaned Whitfield that I found enough info. on to know she was already here. Merge?
Thanks. Do you have a specific source which shows that John was there son?

I will let you decide which spouse is right & if you want to merge.
