See Whiting ONS Project Page Rev, Samuel Whitings life is told in Memoir of Rev. Samuel Whiting, D.D., and of his wife, Elizabeth St. John. [1]
Samuel whiting was baptized in the Parish of St. Boltoph's, Boston, Linchonshire on November 21, 1597.[2]
"WHITING, Samuel, first minister of Lynn, Mass., died Dec. 11, 1679, aged 82. The son of John W., mayor of Boston, England, he was born in 1597, and was educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge 1613-1616. He arrived at Boston May 26, 1636. In about a month he went to Lynn, where a church was gathered Nov. 8. Mr. Cobbet was his colleague for several years, and after his removal one of his own sons was his assistant. His son, Samuel, first minister of Billerica, died in 1713; Joseph was minister of Lynn; his daughter married Jeremiah Hobart. He possessed an accurate knowledge of Hebrew, and wrote Latin with elegance. His disposition was peculiarly amiable, and the sanctity of his life impressed all men with respect for him. From his writings Norton's life of Cotton was partly composed. He published a treatise upon the last judgment, 1664; Abraham interceding for Sodom, a volume of sermons, 1666.---Magnalia, III. 156-161; Sprague."[3]
He was appointed Preacher of the Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts in 1660.[4]
In the memoir of Samuel, William Whiting states that Rev. Samuel Whiting was married prior to his marriage to Elizabeth, "Mr. Whiting having lost his first wife and his two sons... married Elizabeth St. John...August 6, 1629."[5] On page 55, his daughter Dorothy is mentioned as being from his first marriage.

He immigrated to Boston Mass., along with his wife Elizabeth, his daughter from his first marriage, Dorothy and his young son Samuel, arriving on May 26, 1636.[7]
His first American post as preacher was confirmed November 8, 1636 for Lynn Mass.[8] He remained as pastor of Lynn, lived in Lyn, raised his family in Lynn and ultimately passed away in Lynn.
In 1637, his son John was born.[9] This son needs to be added.

Also,
I was hoping to find the name of the ship that Elizabeth (St.John) Whiting and Rev. Samuel Whiting sailed on from England, with two children, Dorothy Whiting and Samuel Whiting, along with the English port of departure. They arrived in Boston on May 26, 1636. There are also reports that Rev. John Wheelwright sailed with them. Winthrop's The History of New England Vol. I pg. 501 "Whiting left England in April, arrived 26 May, in one of the fifteen great ships in all the harbor together." Thanks for any pointers!
