William was born William Whitley in 1720 Hood Gap, Dacre, Pateley Bridge, Yorkshire & baptised William Whitley on 22 December 1720 Pateley Bridge, Yorkshire the son of William Whitley of Hood Gap. ^{[1] [2]}

The marriage by Banns of William Wheatley (whitesmith) & Mary Ingleby (spinster) [both of this Parish] was conducted on 24 September 1754 Ripon, Cathedral, Yorkshire. ^{[3] [4]}

He died William Whitley, in 1805 Padside,, Thornthwaite Yorkshire & buried William Whitley of Padside age 85 on 2 June 1805, Hampsthwaite, Yorkshire.^{[5] [6]}
