John was born John Whitley in 1806 Hartwith, Yorkshire & baptised John Whitley on 8 June 1806 Hartwith, Yorkshire the son of John Whitley & Ann. [1]
The marriage by Licence of John Whitley (bachelor) [of this Parish] & Mary Suttell (spinster) [of this Parish] was conducted on 9 January 1836, West Tanfield, Yorkshire. [2]
A farmer of 120 acres with wife Mary & children Ann (14), Susannah (10), George (5), Jane (3), William (10mths) in 1851 living in Hartwith, Yorkshire.[3]
A widower in 1871 farming 258 acres in Hartwith, Yorkshire with son William (20), daughters Jane (23) & Isabel (17) .[4]
