Inv. of est. of John Whitley filed by Mary Whitley May 27, 1695. So why is death date above listed as in November of 1695?
Answer: "Received of Mary Whitley, widow of John Whitley, tobacco for the use of Thomas, John, and William Whitley, orphans of said John. Whitley. November 26, 1695. Mary was declared a widow in court documents in November, but John Whitley, Jr. probably died before November, perhaps as early as May, or even March.
