As for my ancestors that came to Sharon, Pa. from Wales I have couple of families that I'm working on, the Morgan and Williams. My ancestor David Morgan married Sarah Jones in South Wales in 1864 and had two sons born there, David and William John in 1866 and 1868 before coming to America in 1868 and having three more sons in Sharon, Pa. named Thomas, George and Charles.Sarah Jones had a sister named Ann and there father was John Jones. My Great Grandfather Thomas married a Jenny Williams in Sharon and her father was Stephen Williams and mother Sarah Evans both born in Wales. David Morgan born in Glamorgan Wales in 1840 and died in Sharon, Pa. in 1891 leaving 5 sons, a wife and a brother William K. Morgan in Sharon. His Wife died on June 16,1909 in Sharon. There first son, David, married and died in New Philadelpia,Ohio in 1917. The rest of the sons all married and died in Sharon. David Morgan's wife Sarah had a second marriage to George Jones between 1891 and 1909.Sarah's sister Ann married three times first to John Collins then to Howell Davis and last to a man with the surname Edwards.Ann died in 1892 in Mahoning County,Ohio. Any info on them would be helpful. Any information on the above families would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have.

Hi Steven

Thanks for taking the Pre-1700 Quiz!

Because pre-1700 ancestors are shared by many descendants, working with members of the projects which coordinate them is essential. Please be sure to read and understand the info on this help page: Pre-1700_Profiles.

If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask in our G2G forum

Take care and have fun

Karen ~ WikiTree Greeter

Steven, do you have any Y-DNA matches with surname Whatley? My spouse descends from Jones Seaborn Whatley (1813-1898) who might be part of your line. Our early paper trail, though, is very rough. Jones probably has a living male descendant, although most of his children and grandchildren were female - including our line.

Looking forward to working with you on some of your profiles.
Hello Steven,

Thanks for creating pre-1700 profiles like:

For profiles of people born before 1700, our community requires reliable sources and the cited unsoured family tree does not qualify.

Therefore, before creating further pre-1700 profiles, please research to find at least one piece of reliable evidence, such as in a primary or secondary source, that indicates the person existed and include that in the profile.

If you need help with this, please let me know.

Thanks.

Also, for the location of birth or death, please provide your best estimate, even if it is only down to the continent. You can explain how you came up with your estimate in a = = Research Notes = = section and use { {Estimated Date|Birth}} at the top to call attention to the estimate.

Thanks again.

Is the surname Whittley included in Whitley and other derivative surnames on your open website? Also, if we know some of these surnames in our family search that we run across but aren't related, is there a way to put them on as stand-alone in order to help someone connect their genealogical line?

My siblings and I are trying to find our upline on our Father's side.

Hi Steven

Please edit the tags you are following so they are for a single name, ie, not SHAW_PIERSOL_BENNETT but

  • SHAW
  • PIERSOL
  • BENNET

See WikiTree's Tags Help for more info.

Thanks

Hi Steven, I'm so sorry but you have created several duplicate profiles in the Calkins line. I caught several and proposed merges, but there may be more. The Calkins have been very well researched. Their origin was proven as England, not Wales, Chepstow being only their point of departure. That mistake was due to an early New England record and has been widely spread by Ancestry. All relevant research by the Calkins Family Association is on the Hugh Calkins profile which might interest you. Please check for duplicates before adding any more. Thank you, Angela

Hi there, Steven !

As every experienced genealogist knows, incorrect family tree information can be found all over the internet. Some mistakes get repeated on WikiTree over and over again, requiring our best members to spend their time fixing these same mistakes over and over again. It’s led many good genealogists to give up on the entire idea of a collaborative single family tree.

So we are really happy that you took the Pre-1700 certification Quiz.

Do you already have some 1700's people in your tree already ?

Would you like to become involve in one of our projects ?

Feel free to ask [email address removed] or any mentors if you have question .

Have a great day !
