George was born about 1575/76, probably in Frodsham, Cheshire, England. A birth record has not been located. His parents are unconfirmed. Suggested parents from differing family trees:
"Georgium Whitley" married "Margaretam Fysher" on 10 February 1609 in Cheshire, England.[1][2] Proposed children, unconfirmed as yet, include:
George WHITLEY , Jr. b: 22 JAN 1611/12 in Frodsham, Cheshire, England c: 22 JAN 1611/12 in Frodsham, Cheshire, England[3][4]
Thomas WHITLEY b: OCT 1614 in Frodsham, Cheshire, England c: 11 OCT 1614 in Frodsham, Cheshire, England[5]
Ellen WHITLEY b: DEC 1620 in Frodsham, Cheshire, England c: 10 DEC 1620 in Frodsham, Cheshire, England [Have not located birth record in Dec 1620 for Ellen. Did locate one for Ellen Whitley, father George Whitley, christened 10 Apr 1620, buried 11 Apr 1620.]
James WHITLEY b: 1621 c: 21 OCT 1621 in Frodsham, Cheshire, England[6]
John WHITLEY , Sr. chr: 24 NOV 1628 - burial 11 Aug 1642 in Frodsham, Cheshire, England[7]
George is said to have emigrated to Isle of Wight, Virginia and died there either in 1627 or 1645. No confirmation of this has been found. See Research Notes for more information. It is this researcher's opinion that George did not emigrate to Virginia. It does appear that his son, John Whitley (see above), did locate there and records related to John Whitley or his children may have been interpreted as pertaining to George Whitley. A possible death record for his wife has been found:
Margret Whitley, burial 30 September 1635, Frodsham, Cheshire, England' Spouse: Georgii Whitley[8]
Research Notes
George has not yet been definitely located in Isle of Wight County, Virginia. So far the only possible records located for emigration to Virginia, which do not fit with proposed death date of 1645, or birth of son John 1628 in England, are:
Andrew Gilson, 600 acs. in Rappa. Riv. ... 22 May 1650. Trans. of 12 pers: [incl] Geo. Whitle[9]
Possible passenger on ship bound for Virginia:
The Peter and John of London, John Ireland, Master:
George Wheatley, native: clothing: 6 September 1626.[10]
See Reflections of Whitley Family Genealogy for information on son John Whitley (b 1628). However, the information presented as to death date and location (1670 in Isle of Wight County, Virginia) does not agree with record cited above (burial August 1642 at Frodsham, Cheshire County, England). More research needed.

Whitley-785 and Whitley-717 appear to represent the same person because: same birth date/place; same spouse; death date needs to be reconciled; parents do not agree, need to be reconciled.
Whitley-994 and Whitley-717 appear to represent the same person because: same birth date/place; death date needs to be changed. George did not die in 1609, he married in 1609.
Removed Thomas as first name. There is no evidence that he was named Thomas. His marriage record gives only George. Thomas Whitley who was in Isle of Wight, Virginia, appears to be a different person.
