Stephen Whitney was born in 1778 at Newton, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts[1]. He married Ruth Whittemore, daughter of Michael Whittemore and Rebecca Nightingale, on 15 May 1803 at the First Congregational Church of West Roxbury, Roxbury, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts[2]. He died on 10 January 1856 at Lowell, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, at the age of 77[3].

On 22 May 1831 he married Catherine Winch in Newton, she passes away in 1854 and Timothy her husband is mentioned in her Will written Sept 1 1854[4]
He died in Lowell, Mass of an infection in the lungs on 10 Jan 1856[5] He is buried at Edson Cemetery located in Lowell, Middlesex County, Massachusetts,Find A Grave: Memorial #197682469
