Mary Sawyer Whitney was born at Gardner, Massachusetts on February 20, 1831, daughter of Joseph and Nancy (Sawin) Whitney. ^{[1] [2]}

She married John M. Hyde ^{[1] [2]}

Mary died at Malden, Massachusetts on February 23, 1918^[3], and is buried in the Crystal Lake Cemetery at Gardner. ^[4]
